About Us

Transforming lives in a way that transforms our community

Barney and Karla Murnin were married in Miles City Montana in 1985.  Each of them had previously committed their lives to Jesus as their personal Savior.

Shortly after the birth of their first daughter, they moved to Kansas City, Missouri where they resided from August of 1986 until August of 1992.  This time proved to be a divine invitation from the Lord to be a part of a church that was led by Mike Bickle and has now produced the International House of Prayer.  During this season, 4 more children were born, and the family was complete with 3 daughters and 2 sons.

They returned to Miles City in 1992 to finish raising their family.

Barney and Karla held a variety of different jobs through the years including running a daycare together out of their home for 5 ½ years. Barney later served as an officer for the Miles City Police Department for 13 years. Karla became a real estate agent/ broker in 2010.

Sometime in the late 1990’s Karla received a vision from the Lord to start a transitional housing ministry that would be called The Way Home.  After several years of praying about how to start such a ministry, Karla and Barney committed to two years of ministry training.

The Way Home MT became a reality when the corporation was formed as a Montana Nonprofit Religious corporation in October of 2018.

Barney and Karla’s adult children all have children of their own, so they are the grandparents of 14.

Karla is still a real estate broker and Barney has purchased a part time pallet recycling business.  Their passion is to see The Way Home MT established and see many people in transition find adequate, appropriate and affordable housing and to help these people discover more completely how God created them and for what purpose they were created.
